Report of Industrial visit on Shree Khedut Sahkari Khand Udhyog Mandali Ltd.

In plant visit of Asia's Largest sugar industry, Shree Khedut Sahkari Khand Udhyog Mandali Ltd., Mr.Dipen bhatt had introduce us to plant starting from Raw material Storage and handling of sugar canes around 7000 to10000 TCD(ton cane per day). Mr. Dipen bhatt had explained about different operations of chemical engineering like Crushing, Extraction, and Evaporation of sugar cane juice till packing of sugar with small, medium and large bags. Students had seen different equipment like Crushers, Belt conveyer, Vibrating screens, Centrifuge, Multiple effect evaporators etc with different pressure and temperature measuring devices in plant which they are studying in class. There are total 4 products are produced in plant, White crystal sugar with 3 byproducts like Molasses: Used in Distilleries, Cattle feed & Industries, Bagasse: Used in Bio-fertilizers, Boiler fuel, Press mud/ Bio-compost: Used as manure by Farmer. The society was started with 850 TCD (tons cane per day) crushing & presently the capacity of the plant is 10000 TCD. ETP (Effluent treatment plant) has been installed in premises for treatment of effluent generated during manufacturing and processing of sugar. We had also visited laboratory at plant where they measure different parameters like pH, BOD,COD etc. Laboratory was well equipped as per
environmental regulations.
